Itinerary
Paris
Paris in early summer is France at its most seductive — long golden evenings along the Seine, market stalls piled high with the first cherries and asparagus of the season, and a café culture that turns every meal into an event. It is here, over four unhurried days, that A Taste of France begins.

Reims
Champagne country in June is a landscape in its prime — endless corduroy rows of vine climbing the chalk hillsides, the great cathedral of Reims rising over the rooftops, and beneath the streets, mile upon mile of cellar where the world's most celebrated wine sleeps in the dark. This is where A Taste of France raises its first glass.

Dijon
Burgundy in June is deep green and unhurried — a patchwork of walled vineyards, honey-stone villages, and a ducal capital whose kitchens gave the world mustard, cassis, and some of the greatest wines ever made. Here A Taste of France slows to the pace of a long Burgundian lunch.

Lyon
Lyon is, by common consent, the gastronomic capital of France — a grand city of rose and ochre at the meeting of two rivers, where eating well is not a luxury but a civic duty. Here, midway through A Taste of France, the tour arrives at the source of everything it celebrates.

Marseille
Marseille is France with the volume turned up — the country's oldest city, a sun-blasted Mediterranean port where twenty-six centuries of arrivals have left a cuisine, a culture, and a character all its own. Here, in the tour's Provençal chapter, the mood turns to salt air and seafood.

Toulouse
Toulouse glows. Built almost entirely of rose-pink brick, la Ville Rose is the warm, exuberant capital of the southwest — a city of vast squares, a great pilgrim basilica, and a table built on duck, beans, and the confidence of the south. Here the tour tastes the hearty heart of Gascony.

Bordeaux
Bordeaux is the world's wine capital dressed as an 18th-century masterpiece — a golden crescent of stone along the Garonne, ringed by the most famous vineyards on earth. As A Taste of France reaches its final chapter, the tour saves some of its greatest pleasures, from Arcachon oysters to a last, unforgettable dinner, for last.

- Do I need to arrange my own flights to France?
-
Yes — international flights to France are not included and should be arranged independently, though we’re happy to help you find the best fares.
- Is travel insurance included?
-
No. Travel insurance is not included and will need to be arranged separately. We strongly recommend organising cover before you travel.
- Are your tours available in languages other than English?
-
Most of our tours are run in English. Depending on the location and guide availability, some may also be offered in other languages such as Spanish or Chinese — please check the relevant tour page for details.

-
We recommend booking as early as possible, especially in peak season. Our most popular tours can fill up quickly, so it’s best to secure your place well ahead of time.
- Do I need a visa to visit France?
-
Whether you need a visa depends on the passport you’re travelling on. Australian, US and UK passport holders can all visit France and the wider Schengen Area visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. The EU’s new ETIAS travel authorisation is expected to be introduced for visa-exempt travellers, so it’s worth checking the latest requirements before you fly and making sure your passport is valid for the trip.
- Is June a good time to visit France?
-
June is one of the loveliest times to travel in France. The weather is warm but rarely oppressive, the days are long, and you’re ahead of the busy August holiday period when many French cities empty out and some restaurants close.
- What will the weather be like?
-
Expect pleasant early-summer conditions. Paris and the north generally sit around 18–24°C, Lyon and Burgundy a touch warmer, and the south — Marseille, Toulouse, and the coast — often reaches the mid-to-high 20s°C with plenty of sunshine. Evenings can be cooler and the occasional shower is possible further north, so a light layer is handy.
- What should I pack?
-
Light, breathable clothing with a few layers for cooler evenings, and comfortable shoes for walking markets and old-town streets. Bring something a little smarter for the finer dinners, along with a light rain layer for Paris and the north.
- How big is the tour group?
-
Groups are kept deliberately small, so the experience stays intimate and personal and you enjoy easy access to the chefs, markets, and tastings throughout the trip.
- Can you cater to dietary requirements or allergies?
-
In most cases, yes. As this is a food-focused tour, we ask that you let us know about any allergies or dietary requirements at the time of booking, so we can work with our partners to accommodate you wherever possible.
